Major e-mail providers such as Microsoft (Hotmail, Outlook, Live) and Google (Gmail) assess incoming e-mails more and more strictly to counter spam and phishing. In doing so, they check whether the sender can be technically verified via so-called SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.
When a message on server level is forwarded, it seems for these checks as if our mail server is the original sender. Because the forwarded mail no longer comes directly from the original server, authentication fails. As a result, Microsoft and Google often regard such messages as suspicious or unauthenticated, resulting in:
This is not an outage or fault of our servers, but a result of the strict policies of these external mail services.
We recommend no automatic forwarding set.
Instead, use the own mailbox that belongs to your domain. You can easily access it via webmail or set it up in an e-mail programme (such as Outlook, Apple Mail or Gmail via IMAP).
An added benefit is that when you next reply to an e-mail, this one too from your own organisational address and not from a Hotmail or Gmail address. This looks more professional and avoids confusion for the recipient.
]]>- Could you provide the URL? That will help us find what you mean more quickly.
- Can you state specifically what it is about?
- We appreciate it if you can mail us directly without CC; that way the information stays clear. (Please do not send it to multiple addresses!)
- Responding to existing mails keeps the conversation clear. Try to avoid new mails for the same topic.
- Can you check the problem in different browsers? That helps us a lot!

]]>When does Impression perform backups?
Impression has a scheduled backup process that takes place around 2:00 a.m. daily.
Websites whose domain name starts with the letter A are backed up first, while websites starting with the letter Z are last.
Details of the backup process:
- One backup is made each night, resulting in a total of eight consecutive backups.
- After the ninth day, the oldest backup is deleted to make way for a new one.
- In addition to daily backups, we also store backups that are 14 days, 3 weeks and 5 months old. This makes it possible to restore a backup six months old in some cases.
Please note: Restoring backups yourself is not possible. If you would like to restore a backup, please send an e-mail to support@impression.nl.
Upon request, files and databases can also be sent to you via WeTransfer.
Then you can put the entire project folder on the WeTransfer screen. That way, we receive everything as it is organised, which ensures clarity and avoids confusion.
]]>Don't worry, you can easily unblock it:
1. Visit https://nordvpn.com/nl/what-is-my-ip/ to find your IP number.
2. Send an e-mail to support@impression.nl and include your IP number and which website it is about.
3. If you attach a screenshot of the error message, we can help you even faster.
We will take a look for you and if everything is fine, we will unblock it as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience!
